‘Short lines of communication make my job as an audit senior much more fun.’

– Jeroen, audit supervisor

A great place to work in a modern and innovative organisation – isn’t that what everyone wants? Jeroen de Groot talks about his daily work as an audit senior: ‘We work so innovatively and efficiently that when I’m at the client’s office I really can come up with practical innovations that are of use to the client. That gives me a big energy boost’. Read his whole story below!

What are your daily tasks as an audit senior?

I am the one who manages the audit team so that together we deliver successful work. I keep track of the planning and budget, and monitor the progress of audits. At The Audit Generation, you just go that extra mile. For example, I also take the responsibility for any process optimizations, and I make sure that everyone works as efficiently as possible. Constantly innovating and renewing!

Why do you work as an audit supervisor at The Audit Generation?

I chose to work as an audit supervisor at The Audit Generation because you get a lot of tasks and opportunities. I think you will not get that at other offices.

For example:

  • At customer meetings, I talk about innovative ideas and optimizations. This is totally different from just talking about procedures and policies.
  • I am asked to join meetings with prospects, which gives me the feeling that Mark and Corinne have confidence in me. This makes me feel like I contribute a lot to the company. Which in turn provides more motivation and meaning.
  • It doesn’t matter whether you are a starter, a mid-level or an experienced professional: there are always development opportunities. There’s room to learn what you want and at The Audit Generation there is a lot of focus on that.

We also have short lines of communication and as an audit senior this makes my job so much more fun and enjoyable. Because of this I know exactly what the client has in mind, and I can easily explain this to my team. This keeps us agile and innovative. In a much shorter time, we do a data analysis and come up with surprising findings, which the client probably never thought about before. And I can tell them about, how much fun is that?

“The Audit Generation does a different job.” How?

The level of development and responsibility is much higher in this auditing firm than in other firms, in my opinion. You’re regularly at the table with people in charge, or high up in management. Both internal and external.

As an audit senior I am constantly innovating and digitizing. During the audit process I make sure that everything goes according to plan and budget, but I am also constantly working on providing findings based on my team’s data analyses. Whether it’s process optimization or new insights for the client: this is what makes my job so much fun and so different.

Another thing that is ‘different’ about working at The Audit Generation is the way you keep control of your own career. All you have to do is speak out!

Why do you enjoy working at The Audit Generation?

The name of the company: The Audit Generation, sounds pretty hip and modern. This was exactly what I expected when I started. Especially the social aspect of the company was what pleasantly surprised me.

The work-life balance was one of the points that I really thought was very important when I chose The Audit Generation. Because I have young children, I think it’s important to be flexible in terms of work location, but also that you’re not expected to work overtime every day. Mark and Corinne encourage this enormously, because they have children of their own and therefore set a good example. This gives a nice feeling, and I don’t feel encumbered to leave on time.

Furthermore, the team at The Audit Generation is small but nice (read: short lines). This quickly creates a bond with each other and you become close. To encourage this, we often do sports competitions and fun outings together. This way we are challenged every time and you get to know your colleagues on a deeper level. This makes working in the office even more fun. When I look at myself, this is something that I haven’t experienced so much in my career before and I think it is very special.

“Through our data analytics, I can discuss really relevant topics with our clients and add value. All through our audit process. I think it’s really cool!”
